Ayurveda treatment for MS

Post by AyurvedaBeliever »

Hello All, This is my first post in a forum. I wanted to share some information with others who might be looking for natural methods for treating MS. Also to hear from those who have already undergone treatment in Ayurveda.

I am happy to answer related queries from what I know.

My 10 y.o. son was diagnosed with possible MS last year. We were given options to select from a range of injections to choose from. The thought that my little one had to inject himself for the rest of his life was unbearable. There had to be some way out. After doing some research and hearing from very reliable(reliable according to me) sources I wanted to treat him with Ayurveda. Choosing an authentic place is a real challenge, I can say this upfront. But eventually I found a place and then we treated him for 2 months. The MRI scan done after the treatment showed large reductions of lesions. Also the symptoms were gone. After one year the recent MRI has shown significant reduction in lesions. I would definitely go on this road as the Ayurveda has improved the quality of my son's life.
(Ayurveda is life science - google brings up wealth of information)

He developed severe gripping headaches (always around 9 and 10 on a scale of 1 to 10)which started 2 months ago which was initially treated by international standard hospital in a western country. After 2 months of emergency and back to home with no diagnosis or medication other than advice for same old injections we are back to ayurvedic treatment. In just a week's time the headache is gone. He is playing in the backyard as I am typing this.

I have only one year history I am very keen in hearing from those who have undergone Ayurvedic treatments so we can compare/share information.

My best wishes in your journey towards perfect health.

Thanks!

Hi!

This is Indian philosophy of life very very good attitude, I havent looked too deeply into it yet, as I myself are going down the Chinese route at mo. But this is valuable knowledge learnt over thousands of years. Eastern ways and medicine is very very clever stuff. Anything that relieves stress on the body and mind is good there is a lot in massage meditation etc.

Respect for the Mind, Body and Spirit is a very good thing. if I had the choice between Western medicine and Eastern the latter would get my vote every time.

Remember its only a possible diagnosis, I would just continue with what you are doing because that is definitely right.

Hi!

I keep thinking of your son, at 10 that is a rediculous age for an ms suspected diagnosis. So push that one to one side, even off the table.

Just answer this question to yourself ok, if your son has sustained any neck or head trauma no matter how small I would no hesitate to get his alignment checked by a Chiropractor who specialises in the cervical spine (neck) ok

We constantly watch our children, but we dont actually look at them, and when they are still and asleepwe cant get out of the room quick enough.

Its only when the lay still on a Chiropractor table that alignment problems become apparent/observed, to a trained eye to an obvious degree ok.

My son does Street Dancing and is alway flipping himself over, he'll bump himself left right and centre, jump up and try again, sometimes his neck or shoulders may ache from a certain routine, but in a day or two, its like it never happeded.

But knowing what I now Know i am aware just in case he causes a permenant injury, then I would not hesitate in getting him checked by my Chiro.

the body is a remarkable bit of kit, i'm facinated by it. Hope this helps. An Atlas can be affected by stress, but as your son is only 10, I presume that like many other 10 year olds he hasnt got a care in the world.

Fiona, Thank you for your careful thoughts. It is true that his headache this year started after he hit his head on a wall at school.
A doctor told me that the headache could be from the amount of prednisolone he was given last year (4 x 3 x 750mg) over 4 months. We are continuing the Ayurvedic treatment to arrest the ADEM/MS to be on the safe side. (The doctor treating him has had success with a number of adult patients)

Last year when the diagnosis was made there was no such injury. He was checked by a bunch of consultant doctors who are researching the subject. So the diagnosis is pretty close. I was in denial for a while last year was looking for other possibilities but now I have come to terms with it.

Hi!

Please consider alternatives such as some kind of whiplash, medics sometimes get it wrong, and because of their training will only consider a medical possibility. Sometimes there is need to look outside that particular box.

Also the ms society has spent 136 million pounds on medical research and have come up with nothing. They should over the 50 years or so put a little of that money towards Alternative research, they have not done so.

you deny it because it just doesnt ,make any sense. And for me I am very glad that I did or was allowed to, but that is only because I have isolated myself from the medical system.

MS is not contageous, herreditary, they have theories thats all not one hard conclusive fact, the umberell;a of symptoms has grown over the years by assumption and presumption. They use the language possibly maybe perhaps to back up their arguement. I disagree with that 100%.

If he has sustained an injury to his neck get an indepandant opinion from a creditable Chiropractor and one that specialicses in the cervical spine (neck) they are very knowledgable people who understand the mechanics of the human body and its systems. And that is something that the medical world under estimates.

Ask Uprightdoc on here he will be able to give you advice and point you in the right direction. Please just ask him, you have nothing to lose.

Sure Fiona. I plan do do complete checkups as followup shortly when his current Ayurvedic treatment finishes. His spine MRI didn't reveal anything. But they didnt cover the nerves and tissues.

For now the headache hasn't returned. He is back to normal (many thanks to the treatment). I have been searching the internet to see if anyone has had this type of headache and I am yet to associate the gripping headache which my son describes to any disease. It is not migraine/cluster. Closest is tension type headache but still not a perfect match. I will keep looking and consulting until I find the answer.

Sorry to hear about your son. It is important to understand the value of diet in treating any disease. There are different diets which have shown great success in treating MS. Wishing you the best in finding a good treatment for your son.

ayurveda is an interesting road.
my personal opinion is it's the way to go. elimination diets are hard due to personal preferences and dietary habits. ayurveda simplifies everything, because it's tailor made to the individual.

do you know his dominant dosha? pitta, vata, or kapha?

you don't like the idea of your son getting injections for the rest of his life. nutrition isn't an "easier" treatment, he's gonna have to stick with it forever to keep things in check. education in proper eating & lifestyle habits will be important.

a man once described ayurveda as a lifestyle, not an indian health regimen.

good luck!

About 15 years ago a badly handicapped French woman told me that while in India she had enjoyed an Ayurvedic massage in which several women worked on her and afterwards she could walk normally again. This made no sense to me at the time, but now I realize she must have CCSVI venous stenosis. Her testimony resembles that of successful balloon angioplasty which opens the venous blood flow in MS patients implying that the massage opened up blood flow to the Central Nervous System. Upon returning to France she lost the benefits of the treatment. Acupuncture helped her, probably by enhancing blood circulation, but nothing like the dramatic improvement in India. She probably has a serious vein stenosis and is in need of angioplasty (or needs daily massage treatments which is unlikely). OR she has some kind of skeletal obstruction of CNS blood/cerebrospinal fluid flow.

We can now see that symptoms of paralysis require a thorough examination of the structure surrounding the central nervous system - bones, muscles, ligaments, cerebrospinal fluid, veins, arteries. Only then can a diagnosis and appropriate treatment be proposed. For some reason Neurologists seem incapable of doing this.

Consider consulting the CCSVI thread, also uprightdoc on CCSVI and CCVBP (Chiropractic)

Since an accident triggered these “MS” symptoms in a 10 year old boy, I would suspect a skeletal obstruction of brain blood/fluid flow. No one has mentioned that massage was performed, but I’m quite certain that whatever was done, fluid circulation was enhanced. (Also, the accident would account for the headaches.) I think it would be unfortunate to take drugs for what is probably a skeletal problem.
