Peony Immune

Post by standingtall »

A search for white peony and/or Peony Immune yielded only a few results on this board, so I was wondering what experience if any folks had with Life Extensions Peony Immune capsules. Also, if folks had any experience with white peony in general in addition to what has already been posted by upright doc and gobbledygook.
To borrow words from another poster, "In my ever increasing guinea pigdom state" I find this white peony interesting. The reports that it reduced cytokines while reducing liver toxicity caught my interest. Although most of the studies referenced were from China, the few that I was able to locate appeared to have some merit. Therefore my interest. Does anybody have experience or thoughts on White Peony, or Peony Immune supplement. It can be viewed at

This study came out in Feb 2017, did you see this one, and did you try the peony supplement?

Overall, the study “demonstrated that PF treatment can effectively improve the clinical symptoms and delay the disease onset in EAE”, researchers wrote. PF decreased IL-6 production by dendritic cells, culminating in a reduction of the inflammatory response perpetrated by Th17 cells.

“Our study provided insights into the role of PF as a unique therapeutic agent for the treatment of multiple sclerosis,” the team concluded.

Peony Immune - Pain and Swelling of Psoriatic Arthritis

Post by Quest56 »

I have been taking 3 capsules of Peony Immune daily now for about a month. I take one capsule every 8 hours and it has helped significantly to reduce the pain and swelling in my fingers due to psoriatic arthritis. I still have some pain and swelling, but I think I can live with it. The standard medications for psoriatic arthritis come with serious side-effect warnings about opportunistic infections and death.

I take Peony Immune with food and the Chinese patent medication Si Jun Zi Tang Wan to aide digestion issues. So far, so good.

Peony Immune at three capsules per day seems to negatively impact my walking ability and equilibrium. I seem to have less muscle control and feeling in my lower legs. I am trying to work through this. Hopefully it is temporary and not directly related to Peony Immune.

I am passing 6 months now at 3 capsules per day of Peony Immune and plan to continue indefinitely. I am MS secondary progressive with psoriatic arthritis. Peony Immune helps significantly to reduce pain in my fingers from psoriatic arthritis. I also inject about 10mg per week of methotrexate to further reduce inflammation, but I use this cautiously and am still trying to find the right dose for long-term use. I do regular blood work with a Rheumatologist to monitor liver/kidney function. Methotrexate reduces my immune system's ability to combat infection, and as I self-cath several times per day I am constantly introducing foreign bacteria into my system, so I need an immune system that can deal with this. Methotrexate is helpful for psoriatic arthritis but is problematic given catheter use. UTIs often come with fever, and a fever significantly impacts my MS symptoms, ability to walk, ability to stand, use of my hands, etc.

Note: I no longer use chinese herbs to help ward off gastrointestinal side effects. I now take 1/2 dose of immodium with each dose of Peony Immune.
