Autophagy-dependent ferroptosis mediates MS

Warning: This is mainly about some studies on mice. Nevertheless looks promising. More about Ferroptosis at wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferroptosis

ABSTRACT

A recent paper published in Cell by Woo et al. reported that autophagy-dependent ferroptosis mediated by STING1 is involved in neuronal death associated with multiple sclerosis (MS). This research broadens our understanding of the pathogenesis of MS and opens new avenues for therapeutic interventions.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a debilitating neurological disorder characterized by chronic inflammation, demyelination, and progressive neurodegeneration. The pathophysiology of MS is complex, involving multiple cellular and molecular pathways. A recent study by Woo et al. offers groundbreaking insights into the role of macroautophagy/autophagy-dependent ferroptosis mediated by STING1/STING/TMEM173 (stimulator of interferon response cGAMP interactor 1) in neuronal death associated with MS
