newbie...

Post by pollypinkle »

Hi there. I am new and not even sure if I have ms... lots of changes in the past couple of years. I had a strange episode this past summer with numbness and tingling and pins and needles in my back, arms and fingers ( two episodes since). I saw the doctor and she sent me in for a mri and scan on my head and neck. The results were one lesion found on my spine. She prescribed a medrol pack and clonazepam. I was instructed to keep track of my symptoms for the next six months. As I have been keeping track this is what I know... I wake up at night several times to potty (unusual for me) and then stay awake for several hours upon waking, I have this sudden and extreme itching in my legs (mostly my calves but sometimes hips and thighs), I lose my balance on occasion, and am forgetting important things lately, I slur my words often (like I am drunk), I am soooooooooooo tired... when I walk or stand and then finally sit, my legs are extremely tired/weak and, in general, for weeks at a time, I can feel so tired that I cannot get through the day w/out a nap or deep frustration by early evening, I cry daily. Can anyone give me any feedback? I would so appreciate any guidance or advise...

I would see the doctor again. If he or she is not a neurologist, I would at least talk to one. Everything you state could be MS, but it also could be something else (that's the great fun of finding out if you have MS). I would request more than just the MRI. Maybe a spinal tap and Evoked potential tests. Just my opinion. I wouldn't even try to guess, but it sounds like you do have something neurological going on. Welcome to the board ! You can find out almost anything MS related that you want to know here. If someone doesn't know it, they can point you in the right direction or provide you a link. You will find it very helpful here.
