I refused to participate in a drug trial..
Hi all! My neuro asked me if i would participate in a drug trial. I said no because it would have invoved me having to have 11 mri's in a 12 month period. I can't handle mri's i get very claustrophobic, even with sedatives i still hate them. Am i being selfish by refusing to participate, when i could be advancing research on ms? Susannah

oh susannah! no worries!
guilt is such a non-constructive emotion...and you need all the good emotions you can stir up. Do not worry about not being able to participate - we understand. I actually enjoy the MRIs - I use them as meditation time, to visualize healing, and reinforce my thoughts that I am trying to help myself and others. I am TERRIFIED of many things - and I do not let people make me feel bad about them (well, most of the time)...but just know that someday there will be something that you will be able to do to help...and let me know when that it...because I want to be the first to thankyou.
Love & Peace.

Yes, I have them cover my eyes with a rag that I can't touch, of course, BEFORE I slide into the MRI machine. Then even if I open my eyes at all, I still can't see a thing. Works like a charm!
But no, don't feel bad. I backed out of a clinical trial, also, because I decided to try something else, and I felt bad at first, too. There will be other opportunities to help the "MS cause" presented to you in many ways.
The MS Walk and other charitable things are just one example.
