Thanks for your answer, Mark. I searched also, and didn't find much either. I wondered if there is a difference between irradiating a seed and irradiating an already grown food. ???
I didn't mean to make you doubt your garden!
My plum tree had some kind of worm or catipillar last year, and I couldn't eat from it. They were on the branches and I pulled open a plum, and there was a wiggly guy inside it. Yuck! I didn't want to spray the tree. This year, I saw a cacoon or something and my son cut the branch off. We'll see. The plums are delicious, and I hope the tree is worm free this year.
I'm not a very good gardener, and I may have been overzealous when I ordered my plants. Time will tell.

I had my husband help me build 2 raised beds for my garden. I had one already that has herbs in it and then another that I never used. I planted the little seedlings and a major monsoon like rain beat them all to death. I had only a few survivors.

So, last night I took the rest of my seeds and sowed them in the 4 little gardens. I hope they make it because I am so looking forward to fresh veggies and salads this year.

Cucumbers, radishes (2 kinds), Carrots, 2 kinds of lettuce, spinach, broccoli, sweet peppers, 3 kinds of hot peppers, red onions, yellow onions, shallots, garlic, parsley, rosemary, lemon thyme, sweet basil, cilantro, spearmint, peppermint, sage, feverfew, roma tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, betterboy tomatoes, some other kind my husband planted and other things I can't think of right now. My MS mind not working so good today

The joy of gardening !!! Lets see... So far this spring we have pulled out two diseased cherry trees, transplanted 14 blueberries that were not getting enough sun, seeded and reseeded where the mole continues to push, watch the birds pick out and eat the young sprouting peas... and we have only just begun. A lot of mouths to feed before we get our first bite. And I enjoy every minute of it... Keep those seeds and sprouts damp. Planting a bigger garden Mark Terry wrote...Thanks for your answer, Mark. Big difference That is why we grow most of our food instead of buying dead food from the store. M

I have another cacoon type thing onthe plum tree- saw it last night. This one is bigger than the last. (Full of wormies). If I cut this branch, there will be a big portion of the tree gone. My neighbor's mom says she's a country girl and they used to burn them off. Mark, do you have any suggestions?

Update- I came home from work and with the neighbor's encouragement, I burned them off. I feel a little cruel. I hope that was all of them!
