Katie this forum is for people to tell their patient stories of a regimen that they are using. No one will see your question here to answer it! See where it says ThisIsMS.com Forum Index- > Regimens above? You are in the Regimens forum.

This is what you need to do to get to where you need to be to read the answer to questions like that.
CLick the ThisIsMs.com Forum Index.

Page down until you see the forum for Chronic Cerebrospinal Vneous Insufficiency and click that.

Read the "sticky" threads at the top of the forum first to get familiar with the information there. Vast numbers of questions have been answered already there.

And the answer is that this is new and only 3 people are doing any surgery for this at all. All 3 use stents, but to different degrees. Dake uses them almost exclusively, Zambono very rarely, and SImka has only done 6 people so far and AFAIK has used a few stents.

Simka told me once he plans to use any of a number of techniues depending on what an individual patient needs.

But remember that this is unproven and uncharted waters. There are no "right" answers at this time, just people TRYING.

My Dr wasn't fond of stents due to the amount of movement in your neck they will see. When you bend metal back and forth enough it will eventually break. That is the best way I can relate to it and understand it. He is just waiting for some newer more flexible technology behind stents.

We've heard an anecdotal report of a stent fracture. I have to agree with FastBenz's doctor, stents seem risky at this time especially if they are used when it is unnecessary and the docs are still figuring that out.
