Just out of curiosity...have you ever researched Dr..Ciceros work and results in Brazil with MS patients?
I 1200mg of magnesium daily a long with my vitamin D. O guess supplements, as with everything else, depends on the person. The high vitamin d protocol that Dr.Cicero has had so much success with requires drinking 2.5.ltrs of water a day and avoidance of all dairy products. Dont let the fact that this is a Brazilian doctor and that his interviews and patient testimonials are subtitled put you off....

Do not think the fact that vitamin D effects the magnesium level means you stop taking vitamin D. Maybe you need to increase your amount of magnesium if you are low. That is not a problem with me since the last time I had my hair analysis test my magnesium was through the roof. You eat lots of green leafy vegetables and magnesium is not going to be a problem. We need all the vitamins and minerals to have good health and it does make sense to stop taking vitamin D because it uses magnesium. It must be very difficult to figure out which vitamin and mineral you need since there are so many of them and maybe some that haven't been discovered yet. Best to eat the foods which we were design to eat and let the body figure out which vitamin and mineral it needs. That is the way it has worked since the beginning.

Though it was a very good video explaining the importance of vitamin D in treating autoimmune disease. Once people start to realize disease is the result of nutritional deficiencies and toxins in the body there will be no more disease. Glad it had the English subtitles. FDA does not support nutritional treatment for disease. It is all about the drugs with those jokers.

My vitamin D level shot up when I upped my magnesium and zinc dosage. I was taking some 20.000 IUs daily and was at 74ng/ml, I upped that to 30-35.000IUs as well as increasing zinc and mag, and my levels jumped to 180 after about 4-6 weeks!

I was taking 2x300mg but it was mag oxide. i think the type of mag is just as important and citrate is a better type.

Mg oxide is the least absorbed form of Mg and acts primarily as a laxative.
Mg citrate is much better.
Probably the best kind of oral Mg is Mg glycinate.
Then there is topical Mg, which is a whole other ballgame and much more effective.

Hi,
I thought this article may be of some interest to the Vit D discussion.
http://www.anaboliclabs.com/User/Docume ... 202008.pdf
If you have seen my posts elsewhere, I don't worry about it all as I think you need to activate RXR by elevating the intake of 9 cis retinoic acid (Carrot juice) before any discussion on Vitamin D begins.
Best of luck with your endeavours.
Here's a radical non MS idea that has a bit of science behind it (helpful for grey hair as well) -
http://www.fasebj.org/content/early/201 ... 9.full.pdf
In a nutshell, what some scientists did was look at the autoimmune cause of Vitigilo (loss of skin pigmentation) and tested a model that it was due to an abnormal level of peroxynitrite and hydrogen peroxide in the skin. They developed a solution that after application to the skin was activated by using a UV light. The effect was the radicals broke down and skin colour was restored. So why should this interest us? My thinking is we look at sunlight and Vitamin D as linked and we assume the correct activation of Vitamin D is a positive to treat MS. Despite that, the benefit seems to have mixed outcomes. So what if we ask the question is it the Vitamin D or is it the impact of UV via sunlight on peroxynitrite that makes the difference? Sunlight will elevate Vitamin D and the study in the link shows that, under the right circumstances UV light will lower peroxynitrite. If you believed, as I do, that peroxynitrite is central to MS then that would make the role of Vitamin D coincidental rather than integral. Sunlight would be more important than Vitamin D. ( Just a left field idea!!)

The real problem is that the upper safe limit of vitamin d is not known. Dr Ciceros patients, who mostly put MS into remission have levels way above 100ng/ml, that said they strictly follow a protocol where they must ingest about 2.5ltrs of water a day and avoid certain foods, especially all dairy.

"FDA does not support nutritional treatment for disease."
Most doctors as well. While I am very happy with my Neurologist, she and all the other doctors I saw gave me no information whatsoever regarding diet, exercise, supplements. My guess is that they are concerned about malpractice issues. Good thing there are sites like this!

Sick people need more vitamin D. It makes sense. Each of us must determine what is right for us. My belief is the body will let you know. From what I have read toxic levels may occur at 50,000IU a day for extended periods. Getting vitamin D from the sun is best if possible. The doctors will not tell you this because they are afraid of the sun. They will tell you to use tanning creams which cause cancer. That shows what they know. All they know is drugs. We must take control of our own health.
