Daniel Amen is a psychiatrist that uses a special type of brain scan called SPECT, for Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography, which measures brain activity as inferred from blood flow. He has several examples of his imaging on his site including scans from people who have suffered traumatic brain injury. There's even a scan from a 21 year old football player who has suffered multiple concussions. These are not healthy looking brains.
