I wish there was a way to do the ketogenic diet with the coimbra protocol, but it is practically impossible to do with such severe restrictions on nuts, seeds, dairy and coconut products.

"nuts, seeds, dairy and coconut products"

Isn't the only restriction dairy? And you should probably avoid gluten as well.

In any case, it is easy to follow a keto style diet without nuts, seeds, dairy, wheat and coconut products and of course carbs - there are plenty of other foods you can eat...

At the beginning of the protocol, the calcium restriction is severe because we need to know how the high doses of vitamin D3 will affect patient's levels of calcium. It's a safety measure.

However, for most people after the second doctor's appointment, the calcium intake may be increased. Especially the coconut foods.

If you check the calcium content of coconut (fruit), coconut milk and coconut oil they have a small amount of calcium. Only the industrialized coconut products that should be avoided because calcium is often added to it.

100 grams of Coconut Fruit has 14mg of calcium
100 grams of Coconut Milk has 16mg of calcium
100 grams of Coconut Oil has 0mg of calcium.

But 100 grams of Cow's Milk (1% fat) has nearly 125mg of calcium

Don't you mean 100gms instead of 100mg?
Also, after the 2nd appointment, do they raise the calcium intake if their serum calcium levels are <9's ( range 8.4-10.2 mg/dL)?

Yes, the correct is 100 grams not ''mg''. Thanks.

For most of people, 2-3 months after the second doctor's appointment it's time enough to reach their vitamin D personal right dose. So, yes, doctor may raise the calcium intake little by little. Even if calcium levels are at ''<9's''. But, of course, if the patient has kidney problems this process is more complicated.

But talking specifically about coconut products - only the industrialized versions have high calcium content.

Why does Dr Coimbra only allow 200mL per week of coconut milk?
It doesn't have any calcium but is a nut.

Actually coconut milk does have calcium, about 45% of the RDA of calcium per serving (depending on the brand). Coconut milk is lactose free.

Actually, there are many non-dairy foods that have significant amounts of calcium in them.
