Hi Vesta,
Disappeared is not the right word. It's still there but seems well controlled. I do not have major problems after 30 years, except those motor issues that resulted from some demyelination that arose 10 years ago when I stopped for about a year doing everything that kept me well (bad mistake). Since I've returned to my regime I seem to be quite well.
I started taking valacyclovir at the suggestion of a local doctor a few years after diagnosis but, on reflection, he was just randomly suggesting anything. His methodology was very erratic. Nonetheless, valacyclovir helped me a great deal.
Trying to understand why this is the case led me to look at a number of issues.
To try to summarize it, I wrote a book (the link is in the little box at the bottom of this message).
Its 450 pages long so 'brief resume' is also not the right description. Some have read it and might comment, but I'm not into self-promotion.
I have gone through elements of it in the past but I'm not sure which is the best summary on these pages.
I don't make money out of the book. If you buy a copy, be careful about how the online algorithms work. It shouldn't be an expensive book, but the online retailers tell some enormous lies about availability. They pretend there are secondhand copies and demand a fortune for new books. The truth is they all order them on a 'print on demand' basis from the same printer. None are second hand. Check a few different sites.
