Dear Harry,
This community of ours – so widespread, so different, and yet so deeply touched by your sad loss.
I hope you can sense the true depth of understanding we all share about a life lived with MS, and an appreciation of the honest love of those who stay with us and care about us. You accompanied your wife on a long and difficult journey, and your presence was a gift beyond compare. For what it's worth, these are the last few lines of a poem I wrote for my mother's funeral a couple of years ago:
Together you had laughed and conquered
Life's tempestuous storm,
Safe harbour in each other's arms,
Alone no more, and warm.
But now you sing with those you loved,
The ones who'll recognise
That mischief light which sparkled bright
Behind those laughing eyes.
We'll see it, too, who stayed behind,
One frozen Autumn morn,
When dew-dipped cobwebs lace along
The frost-encrusted lawn.
When sun-splashed rivers glide below
The Skylark's joyous tune,
And tender snowflakes settle, soft,
Beneath the silvered moon.
Rest easy, Mum, your work is done,
Let slip your bonds; be free,
But know that, though you'll toil no more,
Yet still you'll carry me.

Harry, although I can hardly find the keys through my tears and don't have the right words, I must add my thoughts of sympathy.
You and Marg fought the best fight possible and you have given so much to all of us as well. Now we wish we could give help to you; we try each in our own way. Once again that helpless feeling washes over us.
I pray that you will have the strength and grace to deal with this sadness. Please know that you have touched so many lives here that share your grief. Our love and thoughts to you, dear friend.

HarryZ,
I'm so sorry about your loss. I've read many of your posts for quite a while on another board, and I admire you for your devotion to her and to exploring this weird disorder she had to put up with.
