So glad you're drinking the vit. D/EBV cool aid, too, Bromley! We'll have to get you the t-shirt and teach you the club handshake.

Prof8...really sorry the stars aligned for you in that way. I'm starting to see a pattern in some folk's MS progression. My husband had mono in his early 20s, and although he's Californian born, spent six years in Rochester, NY for college (talk about no sun!) We have no proof, but I'm sure his vit. D levels were pretty low during those years.

Jeff's using vit. D supplementation (read the natural threads for more info-shout outs to Nick and Jimmlylegs) and taking lots of natural anti-virals. He's stable since first attack, but, Damn! Wouldn't it be great to figure out how EBV sets this off in some people?

Bromley -- thanks for the interesting article on vitamin D. I have started taking supplements. The weird thing is I lived in San Diego for 10 years for almost 4 years (both places have LOTS of sun) but I still had a vit. D deficiency. Go figure? I thought sun was supposed to help. But maybe my body has an issue processing it.

Cheerleader -- Yes, I've read that an early case of EBV can hurt too. Sorry about your husband. What a nasty little virus it is. And Rochester NY is dark and cold! I grew up in New England and had a choice to go to graduate school either in Buffalo, NY or San Diego, CA. Guess which one I chose! I see you are in So. Calif. I miss it tons. In fact, I'm going back for 2 weeks in Aug. to escape the heat here.

I had a case of Mono/EBV in Feb 2000 and within 6 months has my first symptoms. I did not know what it was until 2003 and then was considered Probable MS for 5 years until April of this year. Now I am RRMS and on Rebif. I try to get at least 15-20 minutes of sun everyday. Ofcourse the heat in Mississippi is violent these days.
