I was staddling the fence about the vaccine at first. Then I thought, nah, I wont get it. Then last night on TV, I watched a program about the SF. The SF can be horrible, a lot worse than I thought. I have read and re-read this thread, and I am very undecided now as to wether or not to get it. They are offering it to us at work, tomorrow (friday). I cant make up my mind. I arrest people on a nightly basis who are, should we say, nasty. I have to pat them down, therefore I have my hands all over them. That has me wondering, should I? Shouldn't I? I have to take a Rebif shot tomorrow night and the vaccine is being given between 4-7pm tomorrow evening.

Bubba If I were you I think Id go for it - you are in contact with the public and you're at high risk. I had true influenza in 1994 (before I was diagnosed) and I was sick for 2 weeks - in bed kind-of sick. Then I was weak for about 2 months, I kept fainting and was exhausted. Then I had a MS relapse that lasted 2 months. I know now it was MS but at the time I'd no idea what it was. I got numbness on my right side, flashes in my vision, bad balance.
So I got the influenza Xmas 1994, wasn't well again until June 1995. Real proper influenza is so severe.
I am now on my fifth day after the vaccine, little son the same, and husband had it last week. None of us have had any side effects.

I'm really undecided.... don't know what to do:
- First (and only) flare-up which led to MS-diagnosis occured 2 days after a booster-immunization with Havrix (hep. A), I didn't have any reactions to Twinrix, Engerix or other immunizations in the past.
- Got on Rebif for a year, and then Campath high dose (out of trial) 20 months ago.
- I am now 31 weeks pregnant (third trimester), so never got the second round of Campath (is to be planned after pregnancy). I don't take any MS medications now. I have been on bedrest because of premature labor for 6 weeks now, but am supposed to go back to work in 2 weeks time.
- I work in a hospital.
- I have no disabilities from MS, no decreased lung function.
- In my country, only Pandemrix is available.....
So, should I try my very best to get another type of vaccine (without adjuvant, but not live (because of Campath)?? I don't know anything about all those adjuvants, whether there was something in the Havrix or not... Don't even know whether it would be possible at all to try to get the other type (would travel to another country if necessary).
Does anyone here know something about the different types, and the different adjuvants?
My gynecologist said I should get the immunization (even though he himself developed an angina after the shot), but he doesn't know about all of my MS-concerns. Even if he would know, I'm sure he would recommend it because of liability concerns (death is still worse than disability)...
