For reflux I tried 40 mg nexium after wake up and 5 ml gaviscon before sleep for 3 days. Success, cough almost gone. I stopped nexium.

3 mg melatonin did not effect me. 7.5 mg Remeron (mirtazapine) 2 days worked, 1 day failed. Still using.

I want my fat back for rebif injections :) I did an back arm injection tonight, some blood and a whooosh sound when I massaged the area.

Hair is much better. Still falling but great progress.

Still going to GYM. I doubled all the day 1 weights and almost tripled some leg muscles. Walking saved me during early days but I lost some muscle. Any exercise related trial, I am in.

Once I solve my sleep issues, it will be all great. Sometimes it is annoying, turning in bed for hours, heavy eyelids but can't sleep, waking up early. Sometimes it is only 5 minutes. Totally out of my control for now.

3 weeks for new tests. Take care ;)

ugh nexium i still have all the samples i was given, and will never use them. that is to say i took one, but by then had read enough about its effects on nutrient absorption (and as a Proton pump inhibitor, its active depletion of magnesium specifically) to stop for good. nexium = broken bones. i know people personally, irl, who have had to deal with this nasty side effect.

glad you've stopped now, and i hope you will consider taking your magnesium before food in future, to see if that does the trick for the reflux issue before resorting to nexium or any drug like it. i don't know anything about gaviscon, remeron etc.

re sleep, consider taking a break from b12, see if that helps at all.
you could also try adding calcium to your last magnesium input of the day.

Have you ever tried GABA for help with sleep? I sometimes use a sublingual GABA and find that it helps with my sleep and doesn't leave me with the thick headed feeling the next day like I sometimes get with melatonin. I also have have a family member that finds it helpful for their restless leg problem. The tablets dissolve in about a minute.

possibly of interest re GABA biosynthesis

Basic Neurochemistry: Molecular, Cellular and Medical Aspects. 6th edition.
Nutrition and Functional Neurochemistry
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK28242/

a search of the text keys in on vit B6 and zinc as key, among essential nutrients, for GABA biosynthesis. (potential argument for a break from hi dose b12 but perhaps keeping the b50 complex, in the interest of natural ratios if nothing else???). interestingly, vit E *deficit* increases GABA. weird!

I will try, thanks for the advice NHE

B12 is not the reason J. Reducing the dose to 500 mcg in 4 days (no total change) once I finish this box.

Still doing 3 days GYM a week. I am symptom free, not even numbness (knocking wood) for last 5 days. I am about to believe GYM increases repairs. It is weird, kinda scary, not even a hint of increasing symptoms. If this is a puzzle, exercise must be a large part. It needs more research.

I discovered a new rebif side effect: light tinnitus after injection for 2-3 hours. I will not take ibuprofen for it.

Acid reflux gone. So next time 3 days of Nexium 40 mg and gaviscon antiacid before sleeping.

Take care, cheers ;)

perhaps not for you, but it's not outside others' experience

will be interesting to see exactly how much a nexium regimen increases existing pressure on your magnesium levels from d3 and exercise.

Z shortly reporting from holiday:

Enjoying life. Diet, supplements, physical activity/GYM, DMD, all the same. Very minor feet finger numbness (%5 of all my time) and nothing else.

Half of me hates MS because it has changed my life so much and I have experienced lots of tough days, half of me loves it because it has given me a much better life and protected me for worse diseases. A weird feeling...

ha you're quick - think for me it took a year post dx to really start appreciating the incredible value in the whole experience.

In the last two days I have been experiencing some very mild on-off symptoms. Dizziness, feet numbness, arms pins and needles, gait ataxia. Three days ago I had a painful calf cramp in the middle of night. Maybe having a mild infection aswell. Weather temperature fluctuates alot.

Now the fun part. I have drink some more than usual water today, doubled magnesium intake to 600 mg and guess what? Almost everything disappeared. Why am I more sensitive? Is it MS related?

Optimizing magnesium level is so hard. I think rate of change is important too. Too fast increase GERD comes, too fast decrease cramp comes. Maybe GYM messes up everything. Next week new tests and I guess I will make lots of changes.

Rebif side effect tinnitus increases. I will make injections earlier at 7pm as I need more sleep quality.

Take care, cheers ;)

i've read suggestions that an individual's daily mag requirement is 10mg per kg body weight. this is generally going to be much higher than your typical public health daily intake recommendation.

as you know, mag requirements increase with physical exertion, d3 supplementation and taking nexium. it makes sense that you have trouble maintaining levels and that taking lots helps sort you out :)

with the caveat of course about making sure supplemental doses of high quality forms of mag are taken when you'll be upright for a good long time, and that food or fluids are used to push the mag out of the stomach, away from the lower oesophageal sphincter and into the small intestine ASAP, to minimize potential issues with GERD.

any updates on the copper zinc scene? tinnitus rings zinc-y alarm bells.

while this article indicates an increase in serum zinc (and selenium) after interferon-beta treatment, it also indicates increased copper, so one wonders about the cu:zn ratio again.

although in this article, the serum zinc copper ratios were bad in both patients and controls, and actually worse in the controls:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27502826

not a lot of reearch attention on serum copper in tinnitus specifically so, i'll still be interested to see if you can get any improvements with zinc up to 120 and copper around 115.

Onset is 2 hours after Rebif injection, only right ear, disappears in another 2 hours. I don't think it is zinc deficiency. Plenty of zinc-rich sea food in last month and still taking 4 x 22 mg zinc picolinate and 3 x 10 mg zinc oxide (VM75).

I follow your advice as I always eat something right after taking magnesium.

Time for new tests. Maybe MS messes up everything 10 points and MS+GYM is 50 points combined. 6 months and still optimizing.

Yesterday was a very tough day for me. The day started with mild fatigue. Then ataxia, then rapid body temperature changes, then breathing difficulty, then talking difficulty. Definitely an attack, right?

Suddenly my wife said the two magic words: "Panic attack?"

I remembered the feeling. I understood the situation and tried to calm down. I did it.

Today zero symptoms and I went to gym. How much a panic attack can make me feel bad was incredible. I was totally out of control and scared. Soon I will visit a psychiatrist.

bummer :S while my mind goes straight to magnesium where panic disorders are concerned, this study noted low zinc as the clearest difference between patients and controls

Comparative Analysis of Serum Manganese, Zinc, Calcium, Copper and Magnesium Level in Panic Disorder Patients
https://link.springer.com/article/10.10 ... 009-8441-7

i've always been able to feel the calming effects of magnesium. with zinc if i've felt anything it's only been when working on outright deficiency - had an awareness of functional improvements eg when this one brain lesion started to sort itself out and my cognitive/visual issues, along with a weird straining sensation behind one eye, resolved.

i wonder how your zinc regimen has been doing at getting your levels up. i also wonder what serum ferritin is doing lately!

I took 250 mg magnesium right after I understood what was happening. Another 250 mg after 1 hour. It helped alot with neck stiffness.

The feeling was so real and scary. I don't think a real attack will be much different...
