I have a question, maybe it has been asked before, but i can't find it.
I have my bed since januari 10, 2010 inclined.
I wonder if it matters how i sleep? I sleep always on my belly. And what about the use of a pillow.
I have ppms, since 4 years, and in my family are many vein problems.

Hi Astrid
Your English is fine.
It does not matter how we sleep so long as inclined. Using a pillow is an advantage over sleeping without one.
Thanks for joining us on Tims.

I ask because I want to add this poll to the wall so that we can stimulate more votes. Looking for 500 votes to form a complete posture picture of ms.
http://www.thisisms.com/ftopic-voteresu ... erasc.html
We have 58 voted so far, but I think we can agree it is looking very interesting already. 500 votes is not a lot to ask considering there are around 7 thousand people with ms or with a family member who has ms on the Facebook CCSVI group.
If we could reach them it would not take long to get 500 votes.

Hi Andrew,
(BP today 109/79; pulse 64; meds down to my pre-Dec 28 level)
Joan is the Admin for the CCSVI in MS page with ~8000 members. My group (CCSVI at UBC) has just over 900. As you know, Joan has her hands full, but she posted today about all the exciting news. I would send her a message (here or through F'book).

Hi Andrew,
We have spoken briefly in the MSRC chatroom
I started IBT on the 20th January am currently at just over 4.5" Looking forward to the final push of 7" in maybe a couple of weeks as sleeping this way feels the most normal position for both my husband (in good health) and myself.
Hoping to post some good results shortly, I just wanted to tell you that I have answered your postural poll - I told you I would, but it's taken me ages to remember my login nickname which I had registered over 5 years ago, and this is my first ever post!
I obviously do need some help in the 'brain fog' department at the very least
Thanks for all you do
Elaine

Hi guys, last report was 3 weeks into 6” IBT: Swollen purple foot disappeared, no foot spasms at night, I dream intensly, improved stamina and sexual appetite, and all of this still getting better all the time. It feels like the 2nd best this after a stent. Be well, Asher N=1 -Amsterdam, Holland

Hi all,
Week 3 of IBT brought the abatement of the crushing fatigue that made me so miserable last week. I come to suspect that my menstrual cycle was to blame and nothing else. I sleep just fine – Saturday 12h – dreams are infrequent but vivid. My muscles are slightly stronger – I started using 1kg weights on my legs when I exercise. I don’t get any major back pains, just some aches after sitting for too long. They go away very quickly and I don’t mind really.
Now, Andrew, you’ll like this – when I lie down, it’s very obvious how much straighter my spine really is – even my mother noticed and she is a huge sceptic. Also, when I sit, both my shoulder blades touch the back rest and it is now my normal position I can keep up all day.
My neck annoys me though. I already told you I now am able to bring my neck to the straight position, and it becomes easier every day. However, I cannot lean it the right way one bit. There is some blockage I can’t overcome and it frustrates me. I’m probably too impatient.
Tomorrow I’m going to increase the incline.

hi Andrew;
For what it worth; I start to have much spasms and stiffness in the legs. It also seems that they are "full of blood" (?). Maybe this is the phase "getting worse" before getting better...? I'll hang there and see.
On the other hand, my wife feels better and better. She sleep much better; says to have more energy. She also have kind of collateral veins in the inside of the knee that are fading.
I don't think they are varicoses. But you would never have her to take a picture of her legs... So I can just say they're disappearing
Cheers and thank you again

Algis those spasm increases were reported in both pilot studies. It could well be some more improvements are imminent. This was also reported by people with spinal cord injuries and was followed bysignificant improvements.
However, we need to be cautious about your reference to your legs being full of blood statement, can you elaborate on this? Are you refering to a skin colour change? Change in muscle tone / bulk? Legs heavier? Or oedema forming?
Your wife's vein report is useful and confirms the changes in veins mentioned previously in this thread.
Thanks for your report

Fantastic result regarding your spine and posture. Just the other day we saw an elederly lady who we have noticed walking with a posture problem for some time.
She is now bent at a right angle and is unable to straighten up. My wife asked what causes that. I replied she probably woke up one morning after laying horizontal curled up and could not straighten.
Inclined therapy can put an end to many of these problems in the elderly! I have argued this from the beginning.
Your neck problem could require some gentle therapy to free it up, but will probably resolve itself on increasing the height of your bed.
If you change your sleeping postion it might help to sort this out. Thinking is,
For half hour or less only to begin with: If you lay on your left side (inclined) with no pillow or at least a much softer pillow, it may help to gently stretch the tendons in your neck. I suspect the tendons have become shortened.
In dogs, there is a condition called luxating patella (floating knee cap) on the hind legs. This is caused often by excessive exercise or sometimes injury. This results in the opposite affect on the tendons, which become stretched and do not return back to normal tension due to continued exercise.
If we force the dog to rest up for several weeks and only exercise the dog on a lead, these tendons shrink back and pull the kneecap back into the groove that normally locates the patella.
The point in mentioning this is that rest can tighten tendons, so logically stretching those tendons should free up your neck.
It might also be worth checking to see if you have developed bone spurs on the joints, though this is rare, it can also prevent full movement in the neck and spine.

Andrew: I find it difficult to explain; like if I put a rubber around my wrist and than the feel you have in your hand. But: colors are fine; no edema as I wear socks and would notice (already had edemas a while ago because a lack of albumin). Heavier? Maybe more like it... But no bulk and it is not 'really' painful...
I hope I am clear enough

And sorry if not...
As said I'll just hang there and we'll see; I feel it is not a bad sign...

Asher great news indeed and thanks for sharing.
Thanks also for mentioning increased libido.
Another effect of I.T. is:
Early morning errection is common on Inclined Therapy and has been reported by quite a few men who normally experience impotence.
Again suggesting significant pressure changes in the vasuclar network.

Interesting. Could it be muscles tightening up / growing. I ask because muscle density does improve with or without exercising. This was proven with people who have spinal crod injuries and the 12 year od girl with cerebral palsy who did not have strong muscles having never walked up until 8 months after we tilted her bed. Her mum said her muscles were becoming too bulky and strong, so she pit the bed back down for a few weeks only to observe a rapid reversal of the improvements that peaked when she walked at school. Yes I know this is hard to believe, but it happend!
Have you noticed a weight change yet no increase in clothes size?
I could be wrong about your legs but I doubt it. I suspect you are about to notice some more improvements, fingers crossed and toes

Oh no! Silly me. Only went and fell asleep on the sofa last night for a couple of hours and today my balance/dizziness and optic neuritis have been pretty bad. Won't be doing that again!
Started IBT at the beginning of this year and have been steadily improving: hardly ever need to visit the loo in the night, no morning headaches (which were terrible), dizziness/balance getting better, remembering dreams, can taste food better, can have breakfast before leaving the house (even the thought of it before made me want to vomit), more energy, waking up alert....
all slowly yet slight getting better. I seem to get better overall for a couple of days, then have a day where I feel very tired, but all other symptoms still better than before I started when I felt terrible every day.
I really hope that today's problems are purely because of falling asleep on the sofa for a while.
Oh, btw, the only thing that doesn't really seem to be improving is the optic neuritis, but it's only been about 6 weeks so maybe needs more time.

Hi Andrew
today we are inclining our bed from 4 inches to 7 inches. It's only been 2 weeks since we started, this process. right away I noticed I was able to breathe deeper. I started with a lot more energy and then went back to my usual, so hopefully this will change. My feet are still purple and swollen during the day. this is why we went up the extra 3 inches just to try and see if this makes a difference...
thanks so much for this. I would never have thought of it otherwise

Hi all,
I've been reading this forum for the past 2 months or so after hearing about CCSVI and have decided to give inclined therapy a go because i love the simple logic behind it and it's ease of access versus the liberation treatment.
I inclined my bed last tuesday (2 Feb 2010) and have been sleeping like a baby and having warm feet without wearing socks in bed! Whilst i drink a lot of water every day, my urine has been somewhat darker than normal, but i guess i can put that down to my body detoxing as a result of I.T.
A bit about me; I'm a 32 year old North Londoner who has relapsing remitting MS, diagnosed for 10 years but the 'weird' visual and muscular stuff that used to happen to me 20 years ago now makes sense. I walk with a pair of walking sticks as my balance is so bad as well as stiffness/some weakness in legs but other than that i am in good health and continue to work full time.
It has been less than a week since beginning I.T. for me but as mentioned above, i am sleeping very well, have warm feet (at night anyway) and remembered a dream from last night, the first since god knows when!
will report more as and when.
