Haha. This post cracks me up

I remember once when two of my friends were arguing about 9-11. One of the two was a conspiracy theorist who was arguing that 9-11 was a false flag attack perpetrated by Bush and that the pentagon was hit by a missile rather than a 747. The other girl responded that her uncle works for the pentagon and was standing outside during the attack and witnessed a plane fly into the pentagon! :)

This thread is so entertaining. I love it when people get riled up. :)

You seem to have changed the subject, but what you wrote originally wasn't facts, since it wasn't true. In doesn't matter whether it's you saying it or the Institute for Safe Medication Practices. The FDA did not wait until 2012 to address adverse side effects for Gilenya. You can read the soucre information from the original approval hearings in June of 2010 (which apparently you aren't willing to do). I linked the minutes from that meeting, but the entire transcript is available on the FDA website. The approval committee addressed all the known side effects, and insisted on some pretty extensive testing for those going on the drug.

Whether Gilenya should have been approved is another argument. The ISMP can argue that it shouldn't have been approved, and that's all well and good for them. But those wth aggressive disease might need/want a strong medication.

In an ideal world, we would all have magic apricot seeds that would cure us of MS, and all our other ills. But this is the real world, and MS is a terrible disease. One bad relapse can leave a person with significant permanent disability.

No thanks. There's all kinds of goofy mis-information and wacky websites out there on the internet, as this thread has demonstrated.

To be fair, part of this is related to the development of screening programs and superior diagnostics.
So what percentage of this would you say is related to the higher cure rate? Using the word "part" sounds like something a marketing/sales rep from a drug company would use

These are just the numbers made up by the criminals. Edward Griffin is an author who accumulated the facts and gives the numbers resulting from using conventional and alternative therapy. You choose who you want to believe. I believe the numbers of Edward Griffin who has nothing to sell me; not some stupid quackwatch which is paid by the medical industry. Edward Griffin will not make a penny if you choose to use his information. Remember one thing when the doctor tells you there is no hope and he sends you home to die there is something left you can do. It may work if you haven't destroyed you immune system because of the drugs.

I do not believe the FDA. They have done everything they can to take away our freedom of choice and it is a crime. I am more afraid of the FDA, AMA and CDC than I am of cancer. As I have mentioned previously I eat 6 apricot seeds a day, eat mainly fruits and vegetables, exercise everyday, get adequate sleep, prayer and meditate, do not take any drugs so I do not expect I will ever see cancer or any other disease. If a doctor told me I had cancer and I believe him I would increase the use of apricot seeds. If I had a rash I would use a baking soda paste on the skin because cancer doesn't like a alkaline PH. For something to work you have to believe in it. From everything I have read I do not believe in the cancer drugs or the MS drugs. Cancer and MS drugs destroy your immune system. After you have destroyed you immune system you die. About 6 years ago I was so sick I wanted to die but now I have extremely good health due to following the correct information. This information is free to everyone. You just have to do it.

Pharmaceutical companies paid to be on the advisory committees of the FDA for analgesics-
From the Washington Post-
“These e-mails help explain the disastrous decisions the FDA’s analgesic division has made over the last 10 years,” said Craig Mayton, the Columbus, Ohio, attorney who made the public records request to the University of Washington. “Instead of protecting the public health, the FDA has been allowing the drug companies to pay for a seat at a small table where all the rules were written.”

Even as the meetings were taking place, the idea of FDA officials meeting with firms that had paid big money for an invitation raised eyebrows for some. In an e-mail to organizers, an official from the National Institutes of Health worried whether the arrangements made it look as if the private meetings were a “pay to play process.

The two professors received as much as $50,000 apiece for a meeting, money that went to their academic research accounts and paid for research assistants and expenses “or to cover a small percentage of faculty effort,” they said. At one point in the e-mails, they proposed that they receive honoraria of $5,000 apiece for a four-hour meeting at a hotel near the FDA offices.

When some drug companies balked at the fee, the organizers of the meeting, Dworkin and Turk, were firm.
“20k is small change, and they can justify it easily if they want to be at the table,

This is why the independent health site, eHealthme.com was set up.
Johnson Chen, co-owner of the website, said: "Monitoring drugs after they are approved for the market is crucial, and until now there has been no effective resource for the pubic to find out updated post marketing drug information."
The FDA can talk about side effects in closed meetings--but if the prescribing doctor and patient are not made aware of the true risks, peoples' lives are ruined.

To look up any medications and after market side effects, check out eHealthme.com
For example--here's the independently researched page on Tysabri:
On Feb, 23, 2014: 90,305 people reported to have side effects when taking Tysabri. Among them, 2,583 people (2.86%) have PML.

Hey Wanna...Criminals??!! Guess it must be nice to be judge and jury. I didn't realize you had so many skills. If they are criminals, as you say, then I guess I can look up the conviction records that you must have handy.
Remember one thing when the doctor tells you there is no hope and he sends you home to die there is something left you can do.
Sure hope a teacher during your school years didn't tell you that your work wasn't up to standards. You'd be telling us that because of one comment from one person, the education system is filled with criminals and liars!!

Yes when it comes to my health I am the judge and jury. Hitler was not a criminal in Germany. They thought he was a great man. That doesn't change what he did. Look at all the sick people in our country. The FDA is making people sick with the policies they have impose upon us. We are not becoming healthier but sicker. If their policies worked we would have healthy people. Look around do you see healthy people? I see more sickness than ever before. The Fluoride, GMO's, and vaccines are not working. Why do you want to give them a free pass. Sickness doesn't just happen. It is given to us by the policies implemented by the FDA. Do your really believe putting fluoride in our water, mercury in our mouths, GMO's in our food and vaccines in the babies is a good thing? I have to believe anyone pushing that agenda must have ties to the medical industry.

Everyone should ask the question "If I am sick am I getting better". If you believe the stupid medical community you will never get better. Just take the drugs and we will make you comfortable until you die. Maybe it is time to try something different. In the real world you can get better if you do the right things. I do not post this information for the people who are content with their situation and do not believe they can get better. My post are for people that want to take a different path.

Well, there's certainly a different twist....using Hitler to justify your comments!! Talk about sinking to an all time low.
Why do you want to give them a free pass.
You really don't get it or understand what people are trying to tell you here!! Nobody is giving the FDA a "free pass". Nobody is saying that all docs are good. Nobody is saying that all medicine is good for you. Nobody is saying that all big pharma is good. Nobody is saying that diet and exercise isn't a vital component of one's health.

But as well, we don't go off the deep end and say that everyone in government are liars, that all docs are evil and the ONLY way to keep healthy is to totally shun scientific medicine and become your own doctor and expert. Nothing in this world is absolute but you seem to think that only your views are correct and that those who don't agree with your ideology must be possessed by evil or some subliminal force.

Why do I think that you have some real psychological issues here??!!

Yes I understand you are going to separate the good drugs from the bad. Good Luck. I am not as smart as you so I will leave them alone.

Haha...I couldn't tell you, but there is no doubt that modern treatments have improved survival for certain cancers...which is evidenced by success in randomized controlled trials.

Ok; but what about an experienced oncologist who has seen other patients with promyelocytic leukemia and had success. It is doubtful that Dr. Bergman has treated 10 patients with promyelocytic leukemia in his career as it is a fairly rare disease. Wouldn't you trust someone with more experience with this particular disease.
If I had a rash I would use a baking soda paste on the skin because cancer doesn't like a alkaline PH.
The petechiae are actually small cutaneous hemorrhages due to low platelet count. I don't think the baking soda paste will help.
After you have destroyed you immune system you die.
Actually, even modern myeloablative therapies for MS report mortality rates of around 0.5-1%, and these are far more risky than most FDA approved treatments for MS.
About 6 years ago I was so sick I wanted to die but now I have extremely good health due to following the correct information. This information is free to everyone. You just have to do it.
I eat crap and don't exercise, and I'm moderately obese, but I've always been in perfect health. Sometimes life is just unfair

The problem with this website is that it isn't likely very accurate

For one, tysabri actually has a monitoring program, and far fewer than 2,583 cause of PML have been reported through it. Are you suggesting that a random website has better reporting than an official monitoring program (TOUCH)?

Also, according to the website, 3.1% of PML cases occurred with <1 month of use which works out to about 80 patients getting PML after one dose. I believe the earliest case of tysabri associated PML reported in the literature is after 8 infusions. So none of those 80 cases got published as a case report? Really?

Also, 100% of patients apparently reported their PML as "most severe". So none of them had asymptomatic PML even though this appears to be reasonably common among reported cases?

Also 90,305 patients with MS on tysabri is quite a lot-probably a significant percentage of all patients who have been exposed to tysabri. Is the website really that popular?

I mean...obviously pharmaceutical companies try to downplay side effects and exaggerate claims of efficacy, but this is just ridiculous.

Are you really that gullible Cheer? No offense...but do you have any skepticism for what you read online?

You are really losing credibility quickly here. What you said about gilenya earlier in this thread was obviously bogus to anyone who has paid any attention to MS research since 2010. I mean c'mon. You absolutely deserve to get trashed for posting garbage like that.
