any help with the info from my Doppler scan today would be VERY welcome!

I got my scan done with ultrasound Doppler, venographer who has trained with Dr. Simka. She said she is posting me & GP the report but that the valves in my veins on both sides (not sure if vertabral? - definitely NOT azygous as she said she couldn't scan them, would need MRV for that) were not closing when I sat up. She felt that, although she could not find a constriction, this would indicate there was CCSVI.

Has anyone else found anything similar?

What has me confused is that if my valves in my veins remain open all the time, surely then I have more blood flow vs. constriction? Perhaps there is constriction in the azygous veins....I dunno
Also leaves me wondering about my Inclined Bed....I'm all confused!

If anyone has any feedback I'd love to hear it.

I'm RR-MS officially but am strongly suspicious it's gone progressive in the last 2 years. I know there are 4 patterns of CCSVI...anyone know if my result is indicative of any particular one?

While what you described is indeed an abnormal condition it will take further investigation to find the route of your problem.
Is she wiling to recommend a selective plebography?
If she thinks what she saw is serious she should help you taking this further.

I also suggest to ask Dr Sclafani about this.

Are you sure she said "closing" and not "opening" .
The reason is that in sit up position gravity helps with the flow so that, even if the valve doesn't close, no reflux should arise.
It is more critical in supine position even though there is a small % of people with no valve in the jugular vein and they do just fine.
If you have a picture of the scan it would help.

She said if I was to go to hospital to get a scan done they would declare there was no problem, so I don't think it is a crisis per se.

Oh I'm confused now! She said that when I'm sitting up the valves (I think my jugular veins) are staying open all the time and not working normally. Does that make sense?

What makes sense is for the doppler not to be conclusive.
It s not a first.
When in sitting position your jugs should collapse since blood drains through the vertebral plexus. They dont. Thats all we know.

On the other hand, having an abnormality of any kind in both of your jugular veins is something to look further into.
I dont think you ll find the answers you seek in here. Only a plebography will reveal the real problem (assuming there is one or more).

Dr Sclafani WILL answer to your questions. But a wild guess from my side would be that he will tell you that you need a plebography down the road anyway.

I will post the exact info when my Doppler scan is reviewed by the radiologist and a report is written. Sorry for being vague in the meantime. One thing I don't do is give up.
