50min impromptu talk given by Dr Dake at a fundraiser
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocu7FURU8Bc
Edit:
Some info about the trial Dr. Dake wants to do:
- 3 month trial
- includes balloon procedure, stents and a 'sham' placebo non-procedure
- tests for physical and cognitive symptoms
- at the end of 3 months, the placebo group will have the option of having the real procedure with no wait

Thanks for posting this. I'm really happy about the short time period of the experiment. Three months is an acceptable amount of time...back when we were all discussing that trials would have to be 2 years to be convincing to neurologists, that was awful to imagine. I hope all trials are short like this. I hope this trial goes well and he captures some results. I'd also read at the Facebook site that there weren't going to be stents in the trial, but this says that there will be.

Other than the ridiculous title .......... the 50 min. presentation by Dr. Dake ........... was amazing ....... and so informative.
I recommend this video be viewed .

Yes... it is long ... BUT ... well worth the time.
Dr. Dake is a great guy . His enthusiasm for this discovery ... seems as strong as ever.
Of interest is Dr. Dakes point .... that Clinical Trials must have an END POINT .... to be of value. And this is ....... as previously mentioned .... to be determined at the 3 month period.
Short and sweet.
It appears his Trial is going ahead .... in as few as two months .
About 60 lucky ducks ...... will be getting in to the Trial .... at no cost to them !!! Dr. Dake wanted 90 participants ...... but the research $$$$$ are limiting him ..... dammit.
One other thing that made me happy ......... Dr. Dake estimated that there are now 3,000 people that have been treated for CCSVI
And yes ..... the CCSVI doctors are working on a CCSVI registry !!!
Wow .
And the best for last ......... the CCSVI doctors are planning an annual gathering to exchange CCSVI information ....
Again ........ take the time to listen and watch this clip .....
It is so informative .
really got a chuckle .... about the cat's plumbing

I think it's always been known that the waiting line post-study for the fulfillment of the procedure from Dake was fairly short. That's why I had a hard time understanding why people had such a problem with the whole idea of sham surgery, couple months is practically meaningless considering the wait incurred already. If it gives the rest of the movement a serious kick in the pants and some much needed solid intel then what was the problem in the first place? I mean there is NOTHING in the scientific world that can't be armchaired to death, but putting some sham/non sham side by side pre-post is sure to highlight some obvious differences. And that will get treatment doors opened up to many thousands of others a lot faster than any imaging study. Look how much the Buffalo results were "spun" pro and con, didn't exactly open the floodgates.
I'll need to disclaimer that the "couple months wait" comment is obviously not geared towards those in dire straits health wise who should be treated asap on compassionate grounds...

I'd missed that bit of info somehow. Back in May, when Dr. Sclafani kept suggesting that a two-year randomized trial would be needed, that was cause for some angst. It makes sense, if they are studying CCSVI, short-term outcomes are acceptable; if they're studying MS, longer-term outcomes might be better.

hi Rose - I find the title
MSketeer childish . Sorry .... I just do.
What we are talking about here - CCSVI - is
serious business.
I found the Dake presentation extremely informative ... I learned alot of new information and discoveries .... directly from one of the premier CCSVI scientific investigators.
Would not like to look up from the operating table ... and see the CCSVI health team ......wearing MM ears.
It sure is looking good for CCSVI these days .... it is taking hold in the medical community in spite of the efforts of a few frightened critics .

Wow.
In all the time I have been an MSketeer I never once associated it with a childish theme.
I DO believe that Alexadre Dumas, pere, would have been honored to be associated with such an awesome group as comprises our MSketeers.
Alexandre Dumas, père, born Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie (24 July 1802 – 5 December 1870)[1] was a French writer, best known for his historical novels of high adventure which have made him one of the most widely read French authors in the world. Many of his novels, including The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, Twenty Years After, and The Vicomte de Bragelonne were originally serialized.
Perhaps you have not had the opportunity to study the works of Dumas. They are entertaining and historical.
The young artist who designed and perfected our logo of the Musketeer gaining victory over the bondage of his wheelchair is to be highly commended. He captured our hearts in his artistry.
No, sorry, never once have I considered our group, logo, title or efforts to educate "childish".
Sincerely, Rose2

rose2 - you misunderstand me. I'm thinking Disneyland .. Mousecateers ... or some spelling of it
Yes .... I'm aware of Annette Funicello and MS . She was my favorite.
It's a big world .... sorry I have not read your recommedations ....
I have enough reading material waiting for me ..........
All things considered ..... this concept ... CCSVI .... needs to be treated with respect and given it's due.
Sorry ........ I still do not get the 3 musketeer's and MS connection.

"All for One, One for All !" ????
I think the Musketeer's oath is a clarifying quote in OUR MS world of effort to get CCSVI to each and everyone of us who is interested.

rose2 - a belated congratulation for the effort of your organization in raising 15 Large ...... for Dr. Dake's research .
Well done
rose , your taste in literature .... although interesting ...... does not reflect mine . I have little or no interest in Fiction ..... as I believe those well known novels are . But enjoy them anyways .
My concern .... which I thought I clearly expressed ...... is that CCSVI which is in it's infancy .... must be handled with care ..... as it advances.
If you have been following the CCSVI story here at TIMS .... you should know by now that there are a few naysayers who look to sieze on the smallest of misinformation or a slight slip of the tongue ..... and they are all over CCSVI ..... and they don't quit until they have some poor sucker - that try's to reason with them - besides themselves.
They enjoy this . So let's be really careful .... with HEADLINES and such.
Those I mentioned are looking to pounce on anything . Or anybody.
Okay ? I like the concept of togetherness ...
