No, I'm not posting about the card game. I had a setback this week and I am looking for input from my support group!
I came down with a horrible stomach bug on Tuesday morning. When I say it was/is horrible, I mean that yesterday was the type of day that sick days were made for. I have not had to take a full sick day in over 5 years. I have been working a crazy number of hours over the last few weeks, and I know that isn't good for me. The trouble is that I have some major milestones at work and no one knows about the MS, so I just keep working the hours and keeping my mouth shut. I try to rest up on the weekends, but keep doing the hours. Ultimately, I think that this lead to my getting such a bad stomach bug that it was like my body just gave in and collapsed.
Of course, just since my coming down with this bug yesterday, I have noticed that my MS symptoms have gotten worse. So, now it is stupid question time..... Is my immune system more depleted than the average person's due to the MS? Also, will a virus typically cause an MS setback?
Can you tell that I had not been diagnosed with MS that long ago....which, is my excuse for the stupidity!
Also, I am on the fence about telling my employer about the MS. On the one hand, I would be covered by the ADA. On the other, I don't want to be looked upon as though I cannot do the job. I am in a very analytical position, and I don't want them to assume that I have or will have cognitive issues that will impact my ability to do the job. So, on the fence about whether to tell them. Any encouragement...or discouragement would be appreciated.
