Gilenya and LDN

Post by RedPepper »

Hi, to the forum:

Has anyone been thinking of taking both Gilenya and LDN?
Does anyone know if there are contraindications?
What a dilemma*
I would love to talk about it

Regards everyone.

I have the same question. I was taking Avonex. I wanted to take LDN and my neuro said he was fine with taking both. I had read where, pharmacologically speaking, they were incompatible. My neuro said there was no science to base this theory on. After taking both for a while, I could tell no difference with the LDN. I stopped the LDN. Then some months later I stopped the Avonex and started LDN again. I wanted to continue LDN. I went to a new neuro who suggested Gilenya. I really want to be on an FDA approved MS medication and didn't want to switch to Copaxone because of the daily injections. My new neuro suggested Gilenya. I am about to go on it, but haven't seen any info on taking both Gilenya and LDN. I will call the Gilenya phone line, but I was interested if anyone else knows anything. Thanks.

Thanks for your message. Yours was the only reply to my question!
I'd like to take LDN because of the positives I read and hear. I take Gilenya out of fear. Aggressive MS, I'm told and can see on MRI. Consultant commented you can take both, that LDN is homeopathy.

I've been taking LDN since mid-2009. I started taking Gilenya 10 days ago. My neurologis was aware of the LDN, and said it wasn't a problem. The study that's following me on Gilenya is aware of the LDN and says it's not a problem. I haven't worried about it, and so far everything is going swimmingly. It's only 10 days, but it's a start.

Any updates on this topic? I'm also considering Gilenya, if it works ok with LDN - which has helped me over the past several years. RRMS + some recent progressive symptoms.
