wildlife is cool
so there's this random black bear wandering around my work. several confirmed sightings now. and we're hiking the canyon again tomorrow. so yeah. i brushed up on what to do in case of a bear encounter, but i'm just counting on my group being noisy enough to keep this guy at a distance, and i'm going to train the kids as well before we start.

I like the wild wild life myself. This morning watched a doe with twins cross the road. We have wild turkeys in the yard occasionally. Sometimes a bald eagle will do a fly-by. I love living in the country!

Re: wildlife is cool
Ah, critters! We certainly have had the gamut. A raccoon was camping out in our neighbor's chimney and getting in to the trash. This is even with a locking lid! There is a number of deer that live close by and we see them periodically coming from our back yard and wandering through the yards across the street. What I like best is the number of birds. We had a tree full of cedar waxwings when it had berries on it. Now there are a variety of chickadees, nuthatches, hummingbirds, etc. I swear there is more wildlife in our urban area than we ever saw in Western North Carolina!
