Myelin repair in mice enhanced using stem cells and other novel approaches

Two teams of researchers report success in stimulating the repair of nerve-insulating myelin in mouse models of MS. Myelin is a major target of immune attacks in MS, and although these are early results and further work is needed, these findings show some promise for strategies to repair damage and restore function for people with multiple sclerosis......... Wouldn't it be great if sometime in the future they could actually repair the damaged myelin in MS patients!

But as I have said many times before, there have been a rather large number of successes with treatments for that poor MS mouse which have never translated into anything positive for humans. I'd get excited if they had similar results with monkeys or dogs but with the mouse....hmmm.

I suspect it will take a number of years to develop this latest study....let's hope there is some success this time.
