MRI detects MS progression markers in white matter

Magnetic resonance imaging shows the combined presence of astrogliosis and axonal damage in white matter, which has cardinal importance in multiple sclerosis (MS) severity, according to an article published in JAMA Neurology.

Interesting to note the comments about N-acetylaspartate levels in the brain in this study. When the one and only double-blind trial for Prokarin was done in 2001, a secondary result showed the N-AA had increased significantly in the patients who were getting the Prokarin medication. Too bad someone didn't have the money to do further studies on Prokarin to see if it could have helped more MS patients with their symptoms, especially fatigue.
