Ive been waitimg on MRI results for weeks. Unfortunately, I found out today that I do have MS. I'm not letting it get me down though. One thing my dr couldn't explain is why there were only lesions found on my brain and nowhere else. He's sending me to a neurologist though. Is there any significance to only a brain lesion? Is that a good or bad thing? I can't find any info on it.

1st -- lesions only in the brain is quite common. 2nd That is a good thing in my opinion. It is common that in the brain that adjacent areas can assume the functions that the damaged lesion areas performed. (i.e. 100% recovery). This may/cannot occur with spinal lesions in many cases

The worst areas for brain lesions is in the brain stem because it controls some real essentials functions necessary to stay alive. Recovery from small lesions is possible.

You really need to get the radiologist report!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You also need the pictures of your brain/spine(CD Disk). Location of lesions is important for you to understand your symptoms. Size of lesions and any unusual appearance of lesions is important.

Thank you! I'll definitely call tomorrow to get the report and scans. I never thought to ask.

I had no idea. Well, I'll get a 2nd opinion to make sure there aren't spinal lesions that they missed. A radiologist read the report.

You need a new doctor. That is a vey ignorant statement for a doctor to make. Lesions can only be found in the brain. I only have lesions in my brain. My aunt is in her early 50's and still only has brain lesions. She's had MS for 25 years or so.

Find an MS specialist. It is a whole different world when you talk to a proper MS specialist.

Not only is it possible to only have lesions in the brain, but it is possible to have a diagnosis of MS without any lesions at all (a small percentage of those diagnosed with MS do not have any).

When you go to see a neurologist, make sure you see one who specializes in MS. My 1st neurologist was confident I did not have MS, but because it was not his specialty, he did not really know what to look for. MS can be hard to diagnose for some.

I lied to the Radiologist and told him that I had an appointment with the neurologist tomorrow and that he had asked me to bring the MRI films(no cd at that time).

I then drove to the University of Maryland bookstore, medical textbook section and found a BIG folio book titled something like "How to read and interrupt CAT scans and MRIs".

Then I knew "for sure" it was MS. I was a Classic Text Book Case.
