Hi,
Quick question. Could symptoms in the head (double vision with headache, random tingling sensations, waking one night with one side of the head and scalp numb, along with the ear, with a hearing loss as well) still be due to MS even if I've had a clear Brain MRI? Would lesions on the upper cervical cause the symptoms I describe, or am I barking up the wrong tree looking for my symptoms to be due to MS?

The simple answer to your question is "yes," your symptoms could be due to MS, even with a clear brain MRI. BUT your symptoms are consistent with many other conditions that need to be ruled out first before the MS diagnosis can be made.

Blood tests

Blood tests are commonly employed to check for vitamin deficiencies, toxic elements and evidence of an abnormal immune response.

Depending on your individual situation, your doctor may request certain laboratory tests to identify potentially treatable causes for neuropathy. These include tests for:

Vitamin B12 and folate levels
Thyroid, liver and kidney functions
Vasculitis evaluation
Oral glucose tolerance test
Antibodies to nerve components (e.g., anti-MAG antibody)
Antibodies related to celiac disease
Lyme disease
HIV/AIDS
Hepatitis C and B
