"Understanding how biofilms trigger autoimmunity may ultimately lead to changes in patient treatment, Dr Gallucci said. "So understanding how the biofilms affect flares could lead to a different treatment approach. Now, they give immune suppressive drugs. It seems that taking this different approach has been ignored by the drug companies who provide MS patients very expensive and very limited effect medications for their disease. I am willing to bet that if the grass roots researchers find the elusive underlying infection, big pharma will be right there and knocking on the door buying the patent rights. And you can guess what the cost of the treatment will be once they get their hands on it!
