This is why I included Vitamin D in the Endothelial Health Program--because it helps vessels maintain their integrity, and inhibits unwanted permeability. This was the paper I cited in the program back in 2007:Dietary Vitamin D and Its Metabolites Non- Genomically Stabilize the Endothelium
Our data suggests the presence of an alternative signaling modality by which D3 acts directly on endothelial cells to prevent vascular leak. The finding that D3 and its metabolites modulate endothelial stability may help explain the clinical correlations between low serum vitamin D levels and the many human diseases with well-described vas- cular dysfunction phenotypes.
Correct me if I am wrong, but by saying the "endothelial cells" they are not specifically refering to vasculature only, it also implies arterial systems. I have not read the paper thoroughly so i may be wrong, but my guess would be that they were looking for actions/effects on the arterial walls.cheerleader wrote:Great to see researchers further describing how Vitamin D affects the vascular system, by making endothelial cells stronger in the face of inflammation.
