Protein ‘may control multiple sclerosis severity’

Researchers from La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology have used mice models of induced MS in order to address the importance of a protein known as Nr4a1 in the brain’s autoimmunity. The researchers said the protein responds to inflammatory and stress signals and have hypothesised that it may by a key factor in the prevention of autoimmunity affecting the central nervous system.
