The last few years I have had weird symptoms and have felt like crap but have never really gotten any good answers. Tired all the time I feel weak and out of it. About 2 years ago I started getting dizzy spells I went through tons of tests for hearing imbalance, thyroid, heart, lupus, inflamation, nerological. They said I didn't have vertigo but I really felt off balance and I felt like I had alot of pressure in my head. I ended up having tubes put in my ears as a test to see if it would releave the pressure it seemed to help some but I still get dizzzy sometimes. I recently had an mri without contrast on my brain and neck because I started having headaches on my left side and have been having alot of weird things happening. MRI looked great. It started with my eye twitching a few months back then I would get random facial twitches. Now I get them through out my body all over. You can see them. It looks like my muscle is pumping and spasaming out. I fell like im short circuiting. I feel like Im going crazy. I wake up some nights with charlie horses in my legs. I had been doing alot of research and decided to take b12, magnessium, calcium, potassium. I cant really tell if its helping much. The other thing that makes me worry is my mind doesnt want to work I feel like I have alzimers and Im only 36. I thought maybe I was depressed and tried taking antidepressents but they really didnt help any. I get numbness also through out my body and a while back I started feeling like I had hot spots I would get these random spots through out my body it was really weird. I thought maybe I had a pinched nerve or something. ???

Welcome to ThisIsMS, girly313.

After your research, you may be on the right track to suspect vitamin B12, magnesium, and other nutrients. But rather than just starting to take supplements, I suggest you stop taking any supplements (you need a washout period of at least 2 weeks before any testing), compose a list of your symptoms, see your GP, and request blood tests to establish your nutrient levels. (Ask for your own copy of any test results – you need the actual numbers!)

1. A serum vitamin D test (a.k.a. 25-hydroxyD)
2. Thorough testing to establish your vitamin B12 level requires the following 4 tests:

a serum B12 test
RBC (red blood cell) folate test
serum homocysteine test
methylmalonic acid test

3. Serum magnesium test (some prefer the RBC magnesium test)
4. Serum ferritin (iron) test
5. Serum zinc test

These are good ones to begin with – deficiencies/insufficiencies in these nutrients can cause neurological symptoms.

You are NOT crazy. You know your body – your symptoms are not normal.
