Stopping smoking can also cause MS. It did for me.
Quitting is an enormous stress on your immune system. It is routine for quitters to get colds, flus, acne, and more. I got shingles 1 month after I quit at age 58.
Also around the time I got shingles, my hands and feet started turning numb. The rest is history. Four months later Ms diagnosed.
Would I have eventually had MS symptoms without quitting? I believe so. But the stress of quitting didn't help.
