How severe to be considered a flare-up?

I have not been diagnosed with MS but I have been slowly accumulating symptoms: extreme fatigue, night bladder issues, dizziness, tingling in hands, electric shock feeling in hands and feet, bad balance/coordination, hot flashes, constipation, spasms and twitching in legs and feet, lower back pain (may not be related), random pain in knees, ankles, and wrists, short term memory loss (husband will tell me things I've said and i have no memory of it happening), some mild blurry vision (I always chalked this up to being tired; my work commute is 130 mi round trip), and migraines/headaches.

So with all that said, my symptoms aren't constant. I was hoping somebody could tell me their opinion on my symptoms. Also what is considered over 24 hours for a symptom? I have been having the electric shocks and dizziness for a couple days but it's off and on, not consistently through the hours though, just a jolt here and there. Is that still a flare up or are my symptoms just surprisingly similar to MS without being that?

Any opinion would be helpful. No vitamin deficiencies, thyroid problems, etc.

Welcome to ThisIsMS, Vronduncan.

Your symptoms are common to many conditions, MS is just one possibility. You may not have MS at all; in fact, I think the odds are in your favor of it NOT being MS.

Since you say, "No vitamin deficiencies," I am curious to know the actual number result of your serum vitamin D test (the 25-hydroxy D test). The reference ranges used by labs in the US are considered by most experts to be set too low. (My recent vitamin D test result was 24 ng/mL; my lab considered a value below 30 to be deficient. I have recently discovered that general recommendations are that this test result should be above 40 – some experts recommend that people with neurological symptoms should reach and maintain a value of 80-100 ng/mL)

I recently read that experts estimate that 70%-95% of the American population is vitamin D deficient. It is good that your doctor has already checked for this possible cause for your symptoms (Your symptoms – even the back pain – match those of a D deficiency perfectly.).

The numbers. It is estimated that 400,000 Americans have MS; the population of the US (in 2015) was 321 million. 400,000 is 0.1% of 321 million.
