The FDA has recently approved a bioresorbable stent. Could these one day be used for CCSVI?

First Stent That the Body Can Resorb:

Now, the FDA has approved the first stent made of a polymer that gradually dissolves in the body. The bioresorbable vascular scaffold system disintegrates in about three years, leaving no trace. It appears to be roughly as effective as standard stents in preventing blood clots in coronary arteries.

Yes, this looks like a good development. They'd have to be made in jugular vein sizes, which are larger than the sizes used in coronary applications. In the three years that they are not-dissolved, they can contribute to the development of intimal hyperplasia overgrowth of the vein wall and of course clots. But it sure does feel like a good solution to the alternative of lifelong metal stents, especially considering that the population being treated (people with MS/people with CCSVI) are younger with decades of life ahead compared to the typical patient in need of a stent due to heart disease.
