M.S "now" suggested

I won't list all the symptoms as you can probably guess what they are. But after five years (since I was 21 years old) of occasionally going to the doctor for weird episodes and them thinking nothing of it, three days ago after an MRI M.S is being 'suggested". There are lesions visible

I don't know. I went to the hospital back in 2011 for loss of vision in my left eye and they sent my to a neurologist who didn't think it was necessary to to a scan because it was "just migraine" and I was "going to be fine". What the Hell?

Also I have to ask this because I did something last night that I probably shouldn't have given the situation. The only other person I ever knew to have M.S was my teacher in middle school, so I decided to look her up on facebook last night (just to see how she was doing) and I found out she had died two years ago at only 46 years old  . Cause of death on the memorial was "multiple sclerosis" - but I thought it was not fatal? am I wrong? this just makes me feel so much worse.

Hi,

It is unfortunate they said that. Most people live long lives but lots of illnesses can prove fatal. MS is a difficult disease because the cause is not definite, the treatments are not cures and the course is varied.

Don't lose heart and don't concentrate on such a negative outcome. Treat each symptom as its own little problem rather than lumping them under one heading. It is hard to fight one battle on ten fronts but you can win ten little battles by dealing with each one separately.

There are a lot of good people here. Their experiences are varied and so are the ideas. Share your concerns and you will get a lot of help. Try to answer their questions and ask your own.

As sad as it is, don't for a moment think your teachers fate will be yours.

Regards,
