Conclusions: Our findings provided initial support for a positive and robust association between long-term exposure to O3 and diabetes incidence in a developing country. More scientific and social attention should be attached to the ozone-induced risks of diabetes occurrence.

..The prevalence of type 2 diabetes was higher in MS patients, probably because of muscle disease from nerve demylination or use of ACTH and glucocorticoids as treatments. Several investigators have found some metabolic disorders linking both diseases, such as abnormalities in fat, calcium, and vitamin D metabolism. Also, there is evidence of disruption of myelin due to changes in glucose levels (2). Whether this observation has implications for a link between diabetes and MS is merely speculative, and further evidence of a relationship should be confirmed.

Abstract
Mitochondrial failure has long been associated with programmed axon death (Wallerian degeneration, WD), a widespread and potentially preventable mechanism of axon degeneration. While early findings in axotomised axons indicated that mitochondria are involved during the execution steps of this pathway, recent studies suggest that in addition, mitochondrial dysfunction can initiate programmed axon death without physical injury. As mitochondrial dysfunction is associated with disorders involving early axon loss, including Parkinson's disease, peripheral neuropathies, and multiple sclerosis, the findings that programmed axon death is activated by mitochondrial impairment could indicate the involvement of druggable mechanisms whose disruption may protect axons in such diseases. Here, we review the latest developments linking mitochondrial dysfunction to programmed axon death and discuss their implications for injury and disease.

Abstract
Observational studies indicated multiple sclerosis (MS) patients may have a higher risk of myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke than the general population, whereas the previously reported findings were inconsistent. Using two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis with genetic data from large-scale genome-wide association studies (International Multiple Sclerosis Genetics Consortium containing 14,498 MS cases, Coronary ARtery DIsease Genome wide Replication and Meta-analysis plus The Coronary Artery Disease Genetics consortium containing 43,676 MI cases and 40,585 stroke cases), we found that MS was causally associated with an increased risk of MI (OR = 1.03; 95%CI 1.00-1.06; P = 0.0243), directionally consistent in the weighted median, MR-Egger, and the MR-PRESSO methods. No causal association between MS and stroke was observed (OR = 1.01; 95%CI 0.99-1.04; P = 0.2974). Therefore, timelier and more effective measures should be conducted among MS patients to decrease the burden of both diseases.

Abstract
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS) in which inflammation plays a key pathological role. Recent evidences showed that systemic inflammation induces increasing cell infiltration within meninges and perivascular spaces in the brain parenchyma, triggering resident microglial and astrocytic activation. The anti-inflammatory enzyme A20, also named TNF associated protein 3 (TNFAIP3), is considered a central gatekeeper in inflammation and peripheral immune system regulation through the inhibition of NF-kB. The TNFAIP3 locus is genetically associated to MS and its transcripts is downregulated in blood cells in treatment-naïve MS patients. Recently, several evidences in mouse models have led to hypothesize a function of A20 also in the CNS. Thus, here we aimed to unveil a possible contribution of A20 to the CNS human MS pathology.
