I had never heard before about it but it seems that there is some research about molecular signatures in MS as a marker of the underlying process.

I have read about it for the first time today here:

The autoimmune risk gene ZMIZ1 is a vitamin D responsive marker of a molecular phenotype of multiple sclerosis
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/ar ... 1116302840

but after googling for it I have found some previous articles about it. For example:

Characterising the Molecular Phenotypes of MS: heredity, gene expression modules, dysregulated immune cell subsets and response to therapy
http://researchrepository.murdoch.edu.a ... int/29596/

I am just reading about it now. I just put it here in case someone else is interested.
