Kidney transplants and vitamin D

I was reading this profile on a transplant surgeon which says,

http://www.surgery.wisc.edu/education-t ... /trainers/
"His lab was the first to identify the innate nature of “autoimmune” Th17 and Treg responses that are critical for the success or failure of lung and heart transplants. "

If it is the Th17 that causes transplant failures, maybe the Coimbra protocol would allow a drug free transplant?

Well maybe the answer is Yes,

But I think that only Coimbra (or another doctor) can give you a properly answer about this subject.

It is just a hypothesis, but interesting.
