DCHi all. I have a question. I was diagnosed with type A influenza on Monday and prescribed Tamiflu. Even so, I have been running a low grade (99.0-99.8 or so) fever since my diagnosis (I have had the body aches since last Friday, had a negative flu test Sunday, and a positive test Monday). Today I started to develop a cough. I am supposed to fly to Mexico for a vacation on Friday. I am wondering whether to go or to stay home. I am on Tecfidera so I know my immune system is not as great as it should be. My body aches are gone and I finally slept well last night for a change; it’s the cough I’m worried about. Thanks, all, for your advice.

I think you should ask your doctor when its safe for you to travel.
May I ask if you had the flu shot before you got the flu?

Hi, David. Yes, I did have the flu shot. Got it back in October. I did end up going to Mexico, but not before I confirmed with my primary care physician and with my neurologist that it was safe to do so. Had a great time.
