Tremor vs chorea?

Any difference between the two? Over a year ago I developed a tremor in my dominant hand. Handwriting went from poor to dismal. Then six months ago I had pain in my shoulder and chest. Then I had an attack of vertigo. In the end I was diagnosed with MS and APS. I was put on tysabri for the MS and Pradaxa for the APS: Antiphopholipid Antibody Syndrome. One of the causes of chorea is APS. So anyone know the difference? It would be nice to have a root cause for these problems. Six months later I still have PE, pulmonary emboli and still have the tremor/chorea? in my dominant arm.
TIA,
kevin

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear you have those issues. The APS treatment has to involve thinning the blood which is what the Praxada is for. This, in turn, means you need to be very wary of how other medications you take can interact with it. As an example I use CoQ10 but it would make the blood thinner even more potent and that may not be a good thing. Did the person who prescribed the Praxada also prescribe the Tecfedira? There needs to be a really good understanding of interactions.
Like a lot of things your APS and chorea are lumped in the genetic/unknown cause basket. Really high quality DNA testing for infections like prions, mycoplasma, chlamydias and similiar difficult to find infections might be worthwhile. Similarly, a fasting amino acid panel would show if you are deficient in any of the essential amino acids and you can use diet to modify that.
You are going to have to grill your doctors when anything new is prescribed and really kick up a fuss if new medications make you feel worse. All doctors do is make educated guesses. They use evidence where they can but what you're dealing with will be somewhat obscure and they have to constantly be reminded to look for contraindications.
Good luck and regards,
