Treating Disease with EFAs/Omega-3

EFAs (Essential Fatty Acids) are called essential because they have been deemed necessary for good health. These EFAs must be consumed and cannot be synthesized by the body. EFAs are available through supplements, grass fed meats, wild caught seafood, and some plant based sources.
There has been and continues to be evidence that EFAs/Omega 3 fatty acids are necessary for good health and can be used to treat major illnesses. I read a few more articles over the weekend about successes in disease treatment with EFAs. I find the parallels to the successes of Vitamin D treatment and those of treatment with EFAs uncanny. Since both seem to work and both are simple and not dangerous (with dosage monitoring/blood tests), I thought I would share some info on the topic here. To me it make sense to follow treatment with both (I do and have been for several years and am doing very, very well overall, especially with regard to my MS). It appears that the modern diet of man has evolved to be nutritionally deficient (in general) and supplementation is needed to help make up for these deficiencies
Here is a link to an article on treating COPD with EFAs. And yes, treatment is indeed successful. The statistics on the disease are unbelievable:
"COPD, the fifth-leading cause of death worldwide"
"By 2020, COPD is expected to be the world’s third leading cause of death."
"It’s also considered incurable by the medical community and associations for COPD and lung disease"

At the end of the above article, there are over a dozen links that I recommend you check into. A couple of the more important ones IMHO are these:
Omega-3 Fatty Acids in Inflammation and Autoimmune Diseases by A.P. Simopoulos, MD.

The Importance of the Ratio of Omega-6/Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids by A.P. Simopoulos, M.D.

Treatment of Alzheimer's and other neurological diseases with EFAs have also shown promising results.
