Where can I live?

Hi all, this is my first post. I've had MS for 18 years, have been in a w/c since 2011. Fortunately, my mental faculties are largely intact, and I do not suffer w/ pain. I mostly just can't walk, or even take a step. I need to find living arrangements. I am a single male w/ low income.
Anyone know of living accommodations that accept disabled persons? I have found low income communities, but none are set up for disabled people (shower/toilet modifications for example). I would like to live in a space, regardless of size, where I can be comfortable and call home. I like the idea of finding a garage apartment, or someone's side home they rent out, but finding these are a needle in a haystack.
Anyone w/ ideas or experience finding a place for disabled, single, living? Any recommendations on resources to start with?
