Gilenya patients fail to develop an immune response following vaccination

One to watch - study indicates that those on Gilenya do not elicit an immune response following dose of Pfizer vaccine. Authors recommend not giving dose to people taking Gilenya.

There was a response from other MS researchers critical of their recommendation not to give the vaccine to those on Gilenya

https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.117 ... articles.2

And the authors reply to the criticism

I can't see any negatives to getting Vaccinated but appears the effectiveness may be severly impaired.

Thanks for posting.

Is your wife still using Gilenya? How is she doing?

Hi NHE,

Still on Gilenya- her lymphocytes dropped very low 18 months ago so now she takes every second day which seems to keep the count high enough to keep her Neuro happy.

She’s been largely symptom free for 8 years (touch wood) so nothing but good things to say about Gilenya.

Cheers
D

Hi Dreddk,
That's good to hear. How long has she had MS?

Diagnosed 14 years ago, with symptoms for around 18 years. No treatment at first, then Tysabri then Gilenya.
