Bazedoxifene, an osteoporosis medicine for women, as Remyelinating agent

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Unfortunately, although at this age most RRMS tend to become SPMS

I agree so I'm slightly baffled by the criteria!

Did you know that cholesterol is critical for myelin repair:

From Dr. Google:

Cholesterol made by neurons is crucial for repairing long-term damage to the myelin sheath. The myelin sheath is the fatty coating around nerve fibers that is damaged in multiple sclerosis (MS). Cholesterol synthesis in nerve cells ensures the replenishment of newly myelin-forming cells. When lesions develop in myelin disorders such as multiple sclerosis, the cholesterol- and lipid-rich insulating layer around the nerve fibres is lost. The finding suggests that increasing neuronal cholesterol synthesis may be helpful in treating MS.

From Dr. Google:

Common side effects of bazedoxifene and conjugated estrogens include:
Dizziness
Nausea
Stomach pain or discomfort
Diarrhea
Muscle spasm
Throat pain
Neck pain

Less common side effects include venous thromboembolism and deep vein thrombosis.

Of course but I can't see the connection with the Bazedoxifene.
By the way Omega 3 esters (EPA+DHA) and CDP Choline are the best fat sources for myelin repair

Hi DIM

Thanks - that's interesting. Haven't yet tried CDP Choline although I take Omega 3

Remyelination really would be the golden ticket for us
