I have my Dr. Apt on Wednesday for my dx. My dr. said she's pretty sure its MS but had some blood test done that she has to look at.

Thanks to all of you for your support! I'll let you know! I'll be around on this site for years to come I guess! :)

I hope it goes well. The dx can be a massive shock even though you're expecting it. Take care.

Hey all. I had my appointment yesterday. Here's what the dr. said. "you have 2 leisions in a very uncommon place for MS. There was traces of mylon (sp) in your spinal tap but not the "common" type. You blood work came back normal. "

So she recommended that we not start meds yet or give a dx. I to get another MRI in a few weeks and every six months after that. If it increases, we'll start the meds. If it dosent, we'll just keep watching it.

Not sure if this is good news or not but gives me a little hope!

the 2 lesions are in the brain stem area, not sure what it called. The sympom that sent me to the dr. was vertigo. I have no other symptoms

oohh so you have no spinal lesions at all? that's good. they've ruled out a stroke?

The dr. was saying the what she see's is more like a stroke or someone who might have there air supply cut off or some other past trama. But ive never had anything like that happen to me.

hmm maybe it's some wonky blood vessels or something in there? are they going to keep running tests? does medulla oblongata ring any bells?

no, thats not it. Its in the brain stem somewhere. She said its a critical area because all your brain functions pass through it.

midbrain or pons then? more likely pons i suppose.

brain stem:

medulla oblongata
* Controls Autonomic Functions
* Relays Nerve Signals Between the Brain and Spinal Cord

midbrain
* Controls Responses to Sight
* Eye Movement
* Pupil Dilation
* Body Movement
* Hearing

pons
* Arousal
* Assists in Controlling Autonomic Functions
* Relays Sensory Information Between the Cerebrum and Cerebellum
* Sleep

perhaps your thiamine is down? but i don't know if that would cause vertigo specifically. there are a few deficiencies that can cause brain lesions. did the doc check your eye movement at all?

yes, she did. Ive also had hearing loss in my right ear. over the year, i have gone from just slight hearing loss to about 95% hearing loss in my right ear. but the ENT couldnt find anything.

It's great to hear that you don't have MS!
Image However, you may want to take a look through the Natural Approach forum and see what some of the beneficial supplements might be for you. Essentially, you may want to "act as if" and change your diet and add a few supplements to reduce your body's inflammatory load. For example, eliminate trans fats, reduce saturated fats, start eating fish oil capsules like M&M's, and consider some anti-inflammatory supplements like vitamin D, green tea, turmeric, and possibly lipoic acid. Just a thought as I wish I had had the opportunity to do the same after my initial MS symptoms. I was diagnosed 8 years after my initial symptoms and during that time period I had no MS related problems whatsoever. I feel that if I had followed some of the above suggestions, I may have extended the time period to my diagnosis (or avoided it all together - who knows). Instead, I just kept on eating trans fat, avoiding sunshine without vitamin D supplementation, and getting little to no good omega 3 fats. :(

I just had a thought, have you ever considered sleep apnea? It might explain the low oxygen looking brain lesions.
