MRI Strengths

I have heard of the recent tests with 5Tesla MRI's, however, today I was searching for places locally that specifically perform MRV's, and stumbled across the following.
University of Sydney
Brain & Mind Research Institute

And just below that, there is "11.7 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging Facility"

Are these used on humans? :? Would they be safe on humans if big enough?

I don't think so, as my Neuro that I get to prescribe my MRI's is in this research centre, and sends me down the road to a place that only has a 1.5T MRI.

Cure, 7.0 T has become the high-field MRI standard these days, but there still aren't very many 7T MRIs in the world. The highest strength magnet used on people is 9.4T and is at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Here is a study on the safety of the 9.4T magnet:

Conclusion
Vital sign and cognitive ability measurements made before and after sodium imaging at 9.4T suggest that performing human MRI at 105.92 MHz in a 9.4T static magnetic field does not pose a health risk.

For research purposes, they now have MRI's well over 20 T.
