Hi all.

I will be seeing my gp on Thursday morning. He has agreed to give me antibiotics but the problem is he doesnt' really know anything about ms and antibiotics.

I am soo confused on what to start with and what to take. Can someone give some advice?

The reason I looked into this was because 3 months ago I took Zithromax and within 4 hours my whole body relaxed. For the next 3 days I was flat on my back but I could tell something happened with the antibiotics and how I always felt better when I was on them.

I have tried every alternative treatment out there. I am now on LDN and this has helped but I want to walk without canes!!!!!!!

Any info would be appreciated.

Hi, Karen, nice to meet you!

I am on the Dr Wheldon protocol. I take Doxycycline 200 mg and Roxythromycin 300 mg a day. Every three weeks I take Flagyl for 5 days.

Other people follow Vanderbilt protocol:

Doxycycline 100mg 2x day (switch to Zithromax if you want)
Rifampin 300mg 2x a day
Amoxciliin 500mg 2x a day
Flagyl 500mg 3x a day when pulsed (5 day each month)

Wish you luck,
Barbara

Hi Karen!
I printed the whole Whledon regimen here http://www.davidwheldon.co.uk/ms-treatment.html and took it to my doctor. I was lucky; she already treates autoimmune disease with abx.so it was an easy sell though I am not started yet (we did labs last week).
There is another site recently started by Jim, a person treated effectively by the Wheldon regimen for CFS here http://www.CPn Help.org/ This site includes links to research etc. It's goal is to centralize the pertinent info. so people do not have to look all over the net to see what is there.

Notice these are fairly high doses and for long term, and this is an unproven approach at this point, though we have some people who are doing well with it here posting. "Anecdote" is the wife spoken of in the above David Wheldon MD link.....Her recent MRI can be seen in her regimen thread under the regimen forum here (I linked page 2) http://www.thisisms.com/modules.php?nam ... c&start=15 . There are others here that felt they did not do well You can read the whole "antibiotics had enough of them thread" in the general forum if you want to see the other side. I, like you, noticed a reaction to abx when I took them for a bladder infection. I hope I am one that does well based on that evidence I have a herx to abx.
Blessings
Marie

Good luck to you with your plan!
