Actually I'm pretty sure that the study(ies) you mention must have started in about 2005 because the guy who owns Ovamed made me aware that the results seemed very promising as of a couple of years ago, but I haven't heard anything since.

Actually Germany has played a big part in the suspected relationship between the hygiene hypothesis and allergy/asthma/autoimmunity because the end of the Berlin wall and vast economic disparity between East and West Berlin was such a surprising revelation for Eric Von Mutius and the medical world in general.

Also it seems that German physicians might be more open minded to the unorthodox in the early stages of research.
