Hey all! Thought i'd share this fantastic book lent to me by the MS Society - Australia. Its by Dr. Jelinek - Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis: An evidence based guide to recovery.

I found this book easy to read and follow. I believe the information in the book is actually based on medical studies and research in the lab and in human experiements. It highlights the importance of diet and nutrition, which supplements are recommended and what dietry changes have shown to be beneficial in longitudinal studies (30-50 yrs).

Swank's study showed that 13 out of 15 MS sufferers were still walking unassisted after 50yrs and the other 2 were walking with assistance, they were aged 72-84. At the 34 year mark there were 63 participant follow ups who were following the diet and only 16 surviving participants who did not continue to follow the diet.

I have only read as far as page 120, but I must tell you this is an interesting read. The book was released in February 2010 and I believe every MS Sufferer and their family should read this. I've borrowed it for 3 weeks.

I've also learn new snippettes of beneficial information such as omega-6 causing inflammation and assisting an MS relapse whilst omega-3 antagonises inflammation and actually suppresses the inflammatory response, hence decreasing the likelyhood of MS relapses.

OK i can just ramble on, but im just excited!!!! :)
Please excuse the lack of organisation of this post - i am severely fatigued
