There seems to be evidence pointing to a possible virus that triggers a variety of diseases later in life. I know it's been speculated often that EBV seems to be related to MS as well. Just some more interesting research (not that I know what to do with it heh).

I'm thinking the birth-month effect could be related to lack of vitamin D as well... babies born in winter / early spring probably are lacking in vitD

I read about this a few years ago but haven't seen anything about it since.
