Pupil dilating in one eye?

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Pupil dilating in one eye?

Post by foufounski1 »

Hi!!

Quick question to see if others have had this and how it is treated.

MS dx in December 2008. Intermediate Uveitis in right eye since january 2008.

For the first time, yesterday my pupil in my right eye dilated for no apparent reason. I went to the emergency room and they said it was most likely caused by inflamation on my optical nerve and said it wasn't dangerous. I don't know if I should go see my neurologist or just let it be. It looks a bit silly but doesn't hurt at all and doesn't seem to make my vision worst that it normally is.

Has anyone had this? Does it go away? Can it be treated?

Info: I'm 29 weeks pregnant and on no treatment at this time.

Thanks!!

Hi foufounski,

A dilated pupil is not something to take lightly. The cause can be very minor to severe. If you are not 100% happy with what you have been told then it is always advisable to see your GP, an ophthalmologist or your Neuro to get a second opinion. Even if they give you the same diagnosis you at least will have the peace of mind of having qualified people answer the questions you need answers to.

Good luck and many congratulations on the pregnancy! Sorry not to be of more help.
